JASON MAU

Jason Mau is a lay elder at Table Rock and works full time for a regional law firm. 

I grew up in a Catholic family, the oldest of four boys. I can hardly think of an extended time in my life when I was not attending some form of Sunday morning church services. However, it was not until an extremely selfish time during my first year of college that sent me into a tailspin­‑to the ‘bottom of the barrel’ so to speak-when I began considering spiritual topics. What did church really mean to me, is it really important to attend regularly, and did any of it really matter in the end?

Through a series of events that drew my heart to the loving person of Jesus Christ and an enlightenment of the truth of what his sacrifice truly meant, I was made alive by God’s great saving power through Christ. No longer was it thoughts of what I could do to save myself and what an overbearing god might decide to do in the end. It was a realization that the God of the universe, all powerful and mighty, was full of grace and mercy, faithful to the promises revealed in his Word, loved a sinner like me. It truly was a conversion in my life, and I soon found myself looking forward to Wednesday night bible studies and Sunday services more than ‘looking forward for the weekend.’

While I was saved at age 19, I admit that my sanctification has been a slow journey through many seasons in my life. Overall, though, God has been very faithful and gracious to me throughout the years. I have been married to a beautiful godly woman for 30 years now, and we have two great children that we dearly love and enjoy spending time with (and wish they would move back to Idaho!). We both believe that we are in a very sweet time of our lives and are hopeful that the Lord will use us for his glory.

My prayer for Table Rock is that our members would continue to seek to behold our Lord and Savior and desire to become more like Jesus every day.
