Sermon Series
This summer, we are returning to one of the oldest and richest practices of the Christian church, dwelling deeply in the Psalms. For centuries, the Psalter has been the church's prayer book, songbook, and guide to our life of faith. Luther called it "a little Bible," and Bonhoeffer, writing from a Nazi prison, called it "an incomparable treasure."
Rather than coming to the Psalms simply looking for a reflection of our own emotions, we'll be reading them the way the New Testament and the early church did, as psalms that ultimately belong to Jesus. He is their truest singer, their deepest subject, and the key to understanding them fully. Along the way, we expect these ancient songs to do what they've always done: teach us to pray with greater honesty, draw us together as a community, and slowly reorder what we love and long for. By God's grace, we'll rediscover the treasure of the Psalms together this Summer.
