Summer Shouts God's Glory

Summer feels like it’s passing fast. But still the trees are full, the grass has turned green, the flowers are blooming — all reminding me of the life around us. I love this beautiful time of the year. Summer kicks off camping trips, hiking, sports, floating the river, riding the green belt, or simply enjoying a peaceful yard or porch. I love this season.

What a joy it is to be in the world God has made for us. And what a joy it is to worship our Father for these good gifts! At Table Rock we deeply desire to pursue joy together. Summer reminds me that “every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change” (James 1:17). From sunshine, to food, to family, to lemonade, every good thing is from God and points to God. Summer provides a fresh opportunity for worship.

But notice the source—we are not the source of the good gifts. God is. God is good, he is the source, so credit goes to him! As we delight in summer, as we drink in the fullness of life, and as we receive all good things, let’s focus on keeping first things by delighting first in our God and remembering that he is the source of all goodness and joy.
